The Anuar group’s visit to the Heritage Center. Isfiya, 16.12.15

On Wednesday 16.12.15, a group of activists from Anuar – Jewish and Arab women leaders, visited the Carmel Center of Isfiya Heritage and the Promotion of Druze Women. The group of activists included women from Daliyat el-Carmel, women from the Bat-Yam Women’s Council, and women’s leadership groups from Faradis and Jisr az-Zarqa.

The visit included an explanation about the heritage center, and about the different traditions in the Druze community, as well as a guided tour of the village and its olive press.

Carmel Center is the vision of the Druze woman Raja Case Mansur, who wants to show the Israeli and local public the exclusive Druze culture, the story of Isfiya over the last 100 years, the Jewish-Druze relations in the Carmel region since before the establishment of the state until now, the personal stories of the village pioneers, as well as the status of women in the Druze family and their progress over the years.

A visit to the center is an enjoyable experience accompanied by explanations and nostalgic stories about village life and includes an impressive display of authentic tools and elements from the daily life of the residents in the region.
